Frank Wills was a Major League pitcher who was in the league for 9 years with four different teams; Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Cleveland, and the Toronto Blue Jays. Wills wasn’t a standout player in the fact that his numbers did not jump off the record sheets. In his 9 seasons, Wills mostly threw out of the bullpen and had a couple of starts on his baseball card. To start, Wills was born in New Orleans in 1958 and attended De La Salle High School where he was a multi-sport athlete and helped take his hometown high school's baseball team to the state championship. Wills was a well-known athlete in his hometown as he played multiple sports. After his time in high school, Wills attended Tulane University in his next step in education and sports. In college, he punted for the football team and was at the top of the pitching rotation for the baseball team. After scouts put eyes on Wills they took a chance and the Kansas City Royals drafted him in the 1st round, 16th overall in the 1980 MLB June Amateur Draft. After spending three years in the minor league system Wills would make his Major League debut in a relief appearance where he would perform quite well. During Wills's career, he made appearances in 154 games and started in 35 of them. Wills didn't perform at a star level and in 1985 he pitched 123 innings with the Seattle Mariners. His career ERA finished off at 5.06 in 435 innings.

Frank Wills didn't necessarily have a fan favorite career, however, it is important to appreciate the fact that he played the game he loved and put effort into his craft. This may not be an exciting story to read but it is important to acknowledge a player in the past that may be forgotten today as he still had an impact on today's game. Frank Wills passed away in 2012 and with this piece, it is important to remember his baseball career and life because at the end of the day Wills had a small impact on the game and history of baseball.
